REBECCA

Stronger, Fitter, Fiercer

Hi, I’m Rebecca, you may have seen me around the gym (just a little bit!) and believe me I haven’t always looked like I do now.
My fitness journey with the Results family started back in 2023. I weighed over 90 kg, with my marathon running a distant memory. My first challenge was Shred it, followed by Transform 30 where I discovered a love of weightlifting.
Eight weeks ago, I set out on my first BSB muscle building challenge. For me it was more than just lifting heavier or sticking to a schedule. It was a commitment to push past limits, to show up even when the energy was low, and to remind myself that growth and change doesn’t come from comfort zones.
Now, eight weeks later, I feel stronger—not just in muscle, but in mindset. Every squat, press, deadlift and curl has added something powerful to my training toolbox. I have also realised how competitive I am, which I see as a positive as it pushes me to do my best.
For me, strength training is an important part of how I am now preparing for endurance events like half marathons and triathlons. “Aren’t those just cardio?” But without a strong foundation, distance events break you down. It’s the deadlifts that give me the drive to power through hill climbs, the core work that keeps me stable on long runs, and the upper-body strength that carries me through open water swims.
More importantly, strength training has taught me discipline, resilience, and the ability to grind through fatigue—skills that show up at the 18km mark of a half marathon or on the last leg of a triathlon. I hit a wall during my most recent event in Rarotonga, the heat had zapped it out of me. The mantra that I kept in my head wasn’t “ You’re slim, you’ve got this” or “ You’re fit.” It was “You are strong, you’ve got this.”
Building muscle doesn’t slow you down; it builds the engine that takes you farther, faster, and stronger.
So wherever you’re at in your fitness journey, day 1 or week 8,keep going. Push one more rep, lace up for that run, trust the process. Strength isn’t just what we build in the gym,it’s who we become when we keep showing up. See you at the gym & maybe at the next start line
